Ever since I visited Mister Donut on a trip to Japan in 2019, I've been obsessed with Japanese donut shops and have been saving them on Google Maps and following shops on Instagram with the plan of going back to Japan and trying as many of them as possible. And on a recent trip, we had donuts *almost* every day! The first stop was Jack in the Donuts, a popular chain located in the Hanshin Department Store food hall.
We tried the Uji Matcha Malasada, Galaxy Donut, and Canelé. The Canelé was the best tasting one with a caramel glaze. The Galaxy donut had almost zero sweetness at all which was interesting, but had good texture and went well with coffee. The Uji Matcha was also very good if you like matcha. The concept of Jack in the Donuts is that they feature donuts from around the world and switch out the menu frequently so there is always something new to try. Stay tuned for more donut adventures!
